Brisbane in Spring

Brisbane Spring Festival

Brisbane city comes alive in Spring…

… with several of our stand out festivals, yearly highlights, and internationally recognised events coming to the city between September and November. September is the month of ‘Brisbane Festival’, where the city goes pink, and every forecourt, centre, university, restaurant, and public space is coloured in a layer of pink and glitter to celebrate the arts in Brisbane. October brings Oktoberfest (our nod to the German festival) and Brisbane Open House presents some of our historic and most significant buildings for public tours! There’s plenty to see and do in a Brisbane Spring, and as always – the weather is great!

What To Do

Stay, Eat and Explore

Tryp Hotel is located in the heart of Fortitude Valley (or ‘The Valley’ as it is known to the locals) making it the perfect spot for your spring stay in Brisbane. If art is your thing, you’ll love the way this hotel embraces Brisbane’s emerging street art scene. You will find pieces in and around the hotel by some of Australia’s best known street artists. We won’t spoil the surprise – we’ll let you check that out for yourself! There is so much happening around Brisbane in Spring; whether it be in the City or The Valley, staying here you are going to be close to the action. Other Brisbane hotel options to suit a range of budgets can be found via the Kayak website.

The Valley is home to many great bars and restaurants – you’ll be spoilt for choice. A way to explore these is on our Small Bars of the Valley tour starting right in the middle of The Valley taking you to the best brewery, whiskey bar, and winery in Brisbane.

Start your day off with coffee from any of the cafes down Winn Lane, enjoy lunch and a beer at Soap Box Brewery, wander through any of the historical spots of Brisbane for the afternoon, and then enjoy entirely locally sourced dinner at City Winery! We did say you would be spoilt for choice! And you’ll be exploring like a local……

How Long To Stay

Depending on what events you’d like to attend, how many festivals you’re trying to fit in, or how many extra day trips you’re planning on taking, we recommend seven days in Brisbane during Spring would be ideal.

What To Pack

  • T-shirts and jeans are a good start for Spring, although if you’re visiting in early Spring, be sure to bring a couple of long sleeved shirts for those brisker days or cooler evenings
  • A light jacket for evenings
  • Comfortable walking shoes (plenty of walking to do in Brisbane!)
  • Sunscreen + Hat
  • Camera to take shoot clear blue skies

Weather

  • September: High 24c (75f) /Low 14c (57f)
  • October: High 26c (79f)/Low 16c (61f)
  • November: High 28c (82f)/Low 19c (66f)

Similar to Autumn, Spring sees chilly mornings, but beautiful days. You may need a jacket when you leave in the morning, but it’ll surely be coming off by about 10am when the sun comes out. The Australian sun can pack a punch, so dress appropriately. Sunscreen and a hat are essential.
